Use both, and use them for different things. Wood is kinder to knife edges and is the better board for bread, vegetables and anything cooked. Plastic goes in hot soapy water and can be scrubbed hard, which makes it the right board for raw meat and fish — the food-safety reason for keeping a separate one is real. Replace a plastic board when the knife grooves get deep enough to hold residue, and oil a wooden board occasionally so it does not split along the grain.
A metal spoon will scratch the coating off a non-stick pan or an air fryer basket, and once that coating is broken the pan starts sticking and cannot be repaired. Silicone is heat-resistant well past normal cooking temperatures and will not mark the surface. If you have bought non-stick cookware or an air fryer, a silicone set is the accessory that protects it — it costs a fraction of replacing the pan.
Baking is chemistry and cups are an unreliable measure — a cup of flour varies by a third depending on how it was scooped. A 5kg digital kitchen scale settles that and is enough for any home baking. A 15kg platform scale is a different purchase for a different person: shops, produce sellers and small food businesses weighing stock and portions. Both read in grams and kilograms, which is what recipes and customers here expect.
